Job summary

Do you have an interest in perinatal mental health and willingness to learn more about working within this field?

If so, we are seeking to recruit a psychology graduate for a full-time assistant psychologist post within our Perinatal Community Mental Health Team. Applicants must have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, a psychology degree with 2.1 or above and be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. Travel is part of the role and being a car driver is essential.

The PCMHT offers specialist mental health input to women and their babies antenatally and postnatally. The mothers we work with present with a range of mental health and attachment difficulties including depression and anxiety, bonding disorder, PTSD, complex trauma, emotion regulation difficulties, bipolar mood and postpartum psychosis. We cover the whole of Norfolk and Waveney and comprise of a full multi-disciplinary team including medics, nurses, nursery nurses, peer support workers, social workers, occupational therapist and psychological therapists. We work alongside the Norfolk mother and baby unit (MBU), MBU Outreach, Lotus maternal therapeutic outreach service, PAIRS (parent and infant relationship service) and NHS Talking Therapies. We liaise closely with midwives and health visitors in the community and at the hospital, social services and early years services.

Main duties of the job

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo carry out protocol based psychological assessments of patients, includingneuropsychological tests, self- report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structuredobservations and semi- structured interviews with patients and others involved in their care,under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist. To assist in the formulation and delivery of patient care involving the psychological treatmentand/or management of a patient's problems, under the supervision of a qualified clinicalpsychologist.Where required and appropriate, to assist in the coordination and running of therapeuticgroups, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.Where required and appropriate, to prepare psychology reports, under the supervision of aqualified clinical psychologist.Where required and appropriate, to attend and contribute to appropriate multi- disciplinarymeetings.To discharge statutory social care functions as delegated under section 75 agreement withNorfolk County Council for Service Users and Carers on behalf of the organisation (For NorfolkService Users only)To provide appropriate health and social care interventions according to service users recoverygoals (For Norfolk Service Users only)To assess health and social care needs as part of an integrated team, andimplement/commission packages of care where appropriate.
