SENIOR HEALTHCARE SCIENTIST/ CLINICAL SCIENTIST or BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST(AfC7)NEUROIMMUNOLOGY & CSF LABORATORY

Expressions of interest are sought for the role of Senior Healthcare Scientist (Band 7) in the NHS Neuroimmunology & CSF Laboratory based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (UCLH). The laboratory is a national reference centre and has an international reputation for the analysis of Neuroimmunology and cerebrospinal fluid. The laboratory provides acute Neurological Laboratory services to the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (UCLH) and the London region, plus specialised diagnostic and monitoring laboratory services to the UK and beyond. The post holder will be a member of the senior management team for the Neuroimmunology & CSF Laboratory, assisting the Laboratory Director, Laboratory Manager, Deputy Laboratory Manager and Clinical Lead and other Band 7s, to be responsible for the provision of a section of tests in the laboratory and to be an important member of the Quality team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who will fulfil the following criteria and skills:

o The post holder is required to carry out specialist techniques as dictated by the nature of the Department requiring highly developed manual skills.

o They are responsible for training staff, quality and are required to motivate others to meet service requirements and turnaround times of the Department.

o The post holder is expected to develop skills for authorisation and more senior management roles as well as showing ambition to progress career opportunities.

o The post holder will be expected to undertake an additional role

o The post holder undertakes analytical, technical, quality management and administrative trouble-shooting in addition to maintaining adequate supplies of reagents and consumables to ensure reliable service delivery in accordance with ISO 15189.

o The post holder will undertake structured and directed research and development activities in line with the ongoing translational research service of the Neuroimmunology and CSF Laboratory.
