Thiswill provide an excellent opportunity to focus your advanced nursing skills on direct patient care and service development.The post holder will be responsible for the coordination of patients care who are undergoing treatment for myeloma and plasma cell disorders. Within the team, there is a wide breadth of experience and there will be a need to cross-cover within the team to ensure a safe service.

Therole isa specialist educational resource, and the post holder will be expected to facilitate the professional development ofjuniornursesin the department.

All theclinical specialist nurses in haematologyareactively involved in theMacmillan CancerCentre (MCC),which houses clinic,daycare, ambulatory care and diagnostic cancerservices.The haematology CNS team is part of the renowned cancer nursing service at UCLH and we provide professional development, both in-job and through post graduatepathways. You will have the opportunity to attend national and international conferences. In return, we are seeking highlymotivated candidates with a strong nursing background.IncludingsubstantialHaematologyexperienceandhaving completed orworking towards apostgraduatequalification.

Main duties of the job

This role provides the opportunity to develop leadership and management skills and to work within the myeloma and plasma cell team's development going forward.

This post involves care for all haematology patients with a Myeloma or plasma cell diagnosis from diagnosis to all points on their treatment pathway, in conjunction with the other Clinical Nurse Specialists, you will be responsible for all aspects of their care as designated below. The team is responsible for liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team, providing care for patients and support for next of kin. There may also be some coordination of autologous bone marrow transplants CNS team.

The post holder will manage and coordinate clinical follow up programmes as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will act as a key worker for patients and require a sound knowledge of the potential medical and psychological needs of the patient.
