Job summary

We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

You will work as an integral part of the renal multidisciplinary team. You will demonstrate expertise and leadership in the delivery of care to patients requiring Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) in the form of hemodialysis.

As a nursing leader you will provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff in the delivery of evidence-based practice. You will actively support the unit manager in the effective running of the department including in their absence.

You will be expected to participate in on call duties.

Main duties of the job

Utilize effective communication methods with nursing and medical colleagues, patients and visitors in ways that are consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background.

Refer patients to other appropriate multi-disciplinary team members when needs and/or risks are beyond own scope of practice.

Reinforce developments, improvements, successes, and achievements at every opportunity supported by relevant and accurate information.

Constructively tackle queries and objections to developing knowledge, ideas and work practice and making alternative proposals.

Evaluate own effectiveness in influencing the policy agenda and use this to inform future practice.

To priorities workload themselves and others, assess performance and provide clear constructive feedback to team members.

To monitor progress of work recognizing changing priorities and implement corrective actions within own limits and informing the relevant people.

To plan, manage and organize the unit environment adjusting plans/rosters to cover emergencies in the absence of the unit manager.

Attend and contribute to meetings as appropriate and deputizing for the unit manager at meetings in their absence.
