Monday,Thursday and Friday -
Thursday being Duty Doctor 2 sessions
The position is eligible for NHS pension scheme. Salary dependent on skills and experience.
Working alongside our team of 5 experienced supportive GPs. An interest in Womens Health would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced services, including:
- In person consultations
- Telephone consultations
- Online consultations
- Triage calls
- On call duties
- Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
Job description
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
- Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well wider guidance such as that from NICE
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Check, read and interpret pathological results for patients
- Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
- Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards
- Ensure that practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and enhanced services.
- Appropriate use of read codes.
- Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions avoiding hand-written prescriptions.
- Prescribe appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
- Work with and provide support for other members of the primary health care team.
