Join Our Team Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse looking to develop specialist skills in a rewarding and supportive environment?
We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our expanding Ophthalmology Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work across our outpatient clinics, Eye Care Centre and day surgery services, caring for patients with a wide range of ophthalmic conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and urgent eye presentations.
Whether you already have experience in ophthalmology or are looking to develop a specialist career, we offer a structured induction programme, in post training and ongoing support to help you build advanced clinical knowledge and practical skills within this highly specialised field.
Positions available:
- 37. 5 hours permanent position
- 27 hour permanent position
- 37.5 hours fixed-term 12-month Maternity cover
Main duties of the job
About the Role Provide high quality, safe and compassionate care to patients attending ophthalmology outpatient clinics, Eye Care Centre and day surgery services.
Undertake ophthalmic assessments, investigations and treatments including visual acuity, visual fields and OCT testing.
Support patients throughout their pathway from admission and pre-operative assessment through to discharge.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and participate in the departmental on-call rota.
Support students, new staff and unregistered colleagues while maintaining excellent patient-centred care.

Essential Criteria Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
Commitment to delivering high quality patient-centred care.
Interest in developing specialist ophthalmology skills and knowledge.
Desirable Criteria Previous ophthalmology experience.
Evidence of post-registration professional development.
Experience supporting students or junior staff.
Knowledge of current NHS priorities
