An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced leader to join the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to provide clinical, operational, and professional leadership for the BCSP, ensuring the delivery of a safe, effective, and patient-centred screening service in line with national programme standards and NHS priorities. The successful candidate will work closely with the BCSP Programme Manager, Clinical Leads, Endoscopy teams, and wider multidisciplinary colleagues to support the continued development and performance of the service.

As a key member of the Digestive Diseases leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the patient pathway, ensuring high standards of care, supporting service development, and leading a dedicated team of specialist screening practitioners and administrative staff. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining quality standards, achieving programme targets, and driving continuous improvement across the service.

Main duties of the job

Provide professional and operational leadership for the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.Lead and support the BCSP workforce, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and patient care. Ensure compliance with national BCSP standards, quality assurance requirements, and Trust policies. Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate timely patient assessment, investigation, and treatment. Monitor service performance and contribute to the achievement of national screening targets and quality indicators. Support service development, transformation, and quality improvement initiatives. Promote a positive patient experience and ensure patients receive high-quality information and support throughout their screening journey. Contribute to workforce planning, staff development, recruitment, and succession planning.

Job description

The successful candidate will lead and develop the BCSP workforce, ensuring patients receive excellent care and support throughout their screening journey. They will be responsible for monitoring quality indicators, managing service performance, supporting workforce planning, and contributing to the strategic development of the programme. The role requires strong leadership, effective communication skills, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through the early detection and prevention of bowel cancer.

This is a key leadership position within the Digestive Diseases Clinical Service Unit, providing assurance that the service continues to deliver safe, patient-centred care while achieving national performance and quality standards.
