Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team for up to eight sessions per week.
The position is initially offered as a six-month fixed-term role to provide maternity cover for one of our GP Partners, with a strong possibility of extension for up to 12 months. For the right candidate, there may also be an opportunity for the position to become permanent.
The anticipated start date is between late September and early November, subject to the successful candidates availability.
- Salary: £11,300 per session.
- Expectation to cover a patient list in line with our list-based continuity model.
- Employed under the BMA Model Salaried GP Contract.

Main duties of the job
The Salaried GP will provide high-quality general medical services to the practice population, working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing routine and urgent GP consultations, both face-to-face and remotely.
- Holding responsibility for a defined patient list, supporting continuity of care.
- Assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and long-term conditions.
- Prescribing, referring and arranging appropriate investigations and follow-up.
- Reviewing clinical correspondence, test results and other tasks requiring GP input.
- Contributing to the practice's electronic triage system and managing allocated patient requests.
- Participating in appropriate home visits where required.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and working in accordance with GMC, NHS and practice policies.
- Contributing to clinical meetings, quality improvement, safeguarding and the wider work of the practice.
- Working collaboratively with the nursing, pharmacy, mental health, ARRS and administrative teams.
- Supporting the practice's teaching and training environment, with opportunities to develop additional clinical, educational or research interests.

Eleanor Cross Healthcare is a thriving GP partnership spanning Delapre Medical Centre and Whitefields Surgery, delivering high-quality care to over 19,500 patients in the southwest of Northampton. We are part of the The ARC PCN and have a strong team-based approach, supported by a wide multidisciplinary workforce.

GP Training Practice: Currently training 6-8 GP Registrars and 1 FY2 doctor, and a new GP would be supported in pursuing the new trainers course.
Administrative workload is reduced through robust support from allied health professionals.
Pharmacy team handles most prescribing and medication queries.
Letters are pre-screened, coded, and only those requiring GP action are forwarded.
Nursing support: Full minor illness team covering many areas of minor illness, as well as a dedicated Mental Health nurse specialist.
Home Visits: The surgery has a dedicated home visiting GP Registrar, with low overall visiting rates
Research Opportunities: Designated as an NIHR RSI Research Practice. Opportunities for involvement in clinical research and developing interests in this area.
Clinical Systems: We use Anima Electronic Triage system and TPP SystmOne and Accurx.
New GPs are encouraged to develop special interests, and newly qualified GPs are welcome to join, and will be supported by a named mentor.
