Job summary

Are you a Social Worker experienced in working with children and adolescents with mental health difficulties and their families? Are you interested in working in CAMHS and developing clinical experience within a fast-paced CAMH Eating Disorders team?

With supervision and support the CAMH Social Worker will provide assessment and intervention, which will include individual and group therapy to patients presenting with complex mental health difficulties. This will include providing outreach work to patients who may find it hard to attend clinics and in-reach work into Tier 4 Services. As well as complex multi-agency work with external agencies (e.g. education, social services) and with colleagues within West London NHS Trust. With supervision and guidance from Senior staff, the main purpose of the CAMH Social Worker role will be to develop and guide development of meal support within the ED pathway.

The Social Worker will also contribute to our dynamic and growing CAMH Social Work professional discipline structure. As such, they will receive regular social work supervision, in addition to clinical supervision within their team. They will be encouraged to join our monthly CAMH Social Work Forum and Reflective Practice Groups. As a Social Worker within West London CAMHS you will be offered good opportunities for continuing professional development and you will be supported in your career progression.

Main duties of the job

Work as an autonomous clinician creatively engaging with a culturally diverse population of young people, providing advanced mental health support, carrying out comprehensive assessments (including risk and risk management plans), and offering specialist intervention packages using a variety of treatment models.

Make clear autonomous decisions based on analysis of complex presenting problems & judgments based on available treatment options.

Confidently communicate at a high level both verbally and in writing, with excellent interpersonal skills.

Provide training, consultation and advice to colleagues in the team and across multi-agencies involved with child and adolescent mental health.

Provide clinical, professional and management supervision as appropriate for CAMH Social Workers and CAMHS Practitioners in Ealing CAMHS.

To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the team's operational policies and services, through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit.

To be involved, as appropriate, in the recruitment, shortlisting and interviewing of CAMH Clinical Social Workers.

To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holder's professional and service manager(s).
