Job summary
Our friendly, forward thinking, and supportive Medical Practice is looking to recruit a committed, caring and highly motivated Phlebotomist & Theatre Assistant to join our friendly and well-established Medical Practice.
We are looking for someone who is trained and competent to undertake phlebotomy and ideally has experience in assisting in theatres with minor ops and contraception clinics, however we would train the right candidate in theatre assisting if it is required. The ideal candidate will have experience working as part of a team and also independently and will have the ability to liaise with staff at all levels. Applicants must have a friendly disposition, flexible approach and be adaptable to change. We work in a fast-paced environment, therefore the candidate must be a fast learner and confident and competent using IT software.
This is a permanent position for part time hours.
As well as undergoing an enhanced DBS check, the applicant will need to provide evidence of certain immunisations/immunity (MMR and Hep B).

Main duties of the job
The Phlebotomist & Theatre Assistant will see patients in clinic to perform blood tests and will assist Doctors in their minor surgery clinics (vasectomies, carpal tunnel etc.) and contraceptive clinics (coils). The role will also include other duties such as fridge temperature checks, room stocking and sample testing. The Phlebotomist & Theatre Assistant will work within their clinical boundaries to be able to demonstrate safe, competent clinical care, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Job description
Key Duties:
To collect the sample of blood from patients in accordance with training and procedures.
To assist in minor surgery procedures including but not limited to vasectomies, carpal tunnel, dermatology procedures, coils etc.
To sterilise, clean and maintain surgical equipment following the Practice Infection Control Policy.
To assist with urinalysis and sample checks.
To undertake administrative duties such as room stocking, fridge temperature checks and the removal of clinical waste.
To ensure patient confidentiality, respect, and dignity is adhered to at all times.
