Job summary
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are offering a unique position combining Research with clinical sessions based at one of our community hubs, and seconded sessions at our neighbouring acute trust (to be negotiated on application)
HIOWFT are active partners in the region in supporting the left-shift agenda and so a successful applicant will have the opportunity to help shape how our services develop to support this, including expanding Hospital at Home capacity and developing integrated neighbourhood teams. As we are in a time of exciting development the scope of this job will develop, but will include sessions supporting the inpatient units, the Older Persons Rapid Access Clinics (OPRAC), Hospital at Home and Neighbourhood MDTs. Supervision and training of resident doctors, ACPs and other AHPs is a cornerstone of the role.
An agreement is in place to support successful applicants to undertake clinical sessions at PHUT which will be negotiated on a person-by-person basis (Consultant Physician applicants only).
Applicants must hold (or be within 6 months of completing) a CCT or hold a CESR in the specialty of Geriatric Medicine, be eligible for a position as a Specialist Doctor or have achieved Consultant Practitioner status.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties
Consultant sessions based at the Gosport Hub cover the following:
*Weekly ward rounds and MDTs on the two inpatient wards
*Delivering OPRAS (Older Person's Rapid Assessment Service), including supporting trainees and AHPs participating in clinics, supporting triage and maintaining communication with referring partners
*Giving advice and support to HH, participating in caseload reviews, home visits where required
*In-reaching to community MDTs including giving virtual advice to primary care colleagues.
