Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality time-limited therapy to UHMBTemployees referred to the Counselling Service following a bereavement, or living with anxiety,depression, work related stress, or other losses and their effects on mental health. This will involveproviding comprehensive specialist psychological therapy; liaising with multidisciplinary teams whereneeded, and working autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising personal responsibilityfor the systematic governance of professional practice. Clinical casework primarily involves providingspecialist therapy for individuals living with a range of issues. The post holder is expected to workonly within their range of competency, seek regular supervision as deemed necessary, and escalateany concerns to the Nurse Manager or Wellbeing Lead.
These are two posts - one at Lancaster and one at Barrow
Main duties of the job
- To work with UHMBT staff who are referred by management, Occupational Health Nurses or selfreferred.
- To offer both short term work with clients, and refer on where clinically indicated.
- To provide a brief psychological assessment of the need for counselling or psychotherapy, drawingon theoretical knowledge, whilst utilising current research to formulate and implement treatment plansdependent on client's needs.
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management, taking into account the level of traumaexperienced by client. Work within the scope of personal competence, seeking regular supervisionwhere required and escalating any concerns to the Nurse manager or Wellbeing lead.
- To refer clients to local services where appropriate.
- To be mindful of concerns such as Safeguarding and child protection issues.
- To hold an appropriate level of confidentiality which both respects the client's rights and aids thework of the MDT.
- Ensure services are sensitive to the needs of clients from different social, racial and culturalbackgrounds and communicate across language and cultural barriers respecting the cultural contextof service user.

- To undertake responsibility for maintaining the highest standards of clinical record keeping,including electronic data entry and recording, and professional self-governance in accordance withprofessional codes of practice for the UKCP, BACP, or equivalent, and Trust policies and procedures.
- To maintain up-todate knowledge of legislation, including national and local Trust policies inrelation to clinical practice.

We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
