An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8A, Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Systemic anti Cancer Therapy (SACT). We are looking for an innovative and inspirational SACT ANP who is passionate about making a difference to both patients and staff.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting new ways of working that emphasise efficient, effective and patient- focused care. You will practice autonomously as an ANP within the SACT service to provide patient-centred clinical care, encompassing the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice.

With the launch of our updated Cancer Strategy we are developing our day unit SACT service to be nurse delivered across the pathway including developing roles that encompass extended practice supported by appropriate education. You will work alongside our Consultant Nurse Chemotherapy, Trust Lead SACT Nurse and Chemotherapy Day unit manager to develop an environment that provides safe and responsive care. You will inspire and support the day unit team with shared values putting the patients at the centre of care delivery and service transformation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will practice autonomously as an advanced practitioner within the Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) service to provide patient-centred clinical care, encompassing the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the department. The post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the SACT service, providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families, and carers. They will contribute to the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues. They will line manage the band 7 SACT practitioner and Band 7 trainee SACT ANPs and will work collaboratively with the Macmillan Trust Lead Nurse SACT and the SACT clinical unit manager They will act as a highly specialised role model and leader for all members of staff and play a major role in the continuous development of the services within the Trust.

The post holder will work as an advanced autonomous practitioner working both independently and alongside other health care professionals to assess, investigate, diagnose, and treat patients attending the Chemotherapy Day Unit with specific conditions utilising advanced levels of clinical judgment and diagnostic reasoning.
