Job summary

The Electrical Craftsperson is responsible for undertaking operational electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair and installation activities across all Trust sites. The post holder supports the delivery of statutory compliance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes and emergency response services, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical electrical infrastructure. Working independently and as part of the Estates team, the role contributes to maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors while participating in the Trust's out-of-hours on-call rota.

Undertake planned and reactive electrical maintenance, inspections, testing, fault finding and repairs on Trust electrical systems and equipment. Support compliance with HTMs, statutory regulations and Trust policies, maintaining critical systems including lighting, emergency lighting, standby power, nurse call and associated infrastructure. Prioritise and respond to urgent maintenance requests affecting patient care, complete maintenance documentation, assist with installations and minor projects, support audits and surveys, supervise and train assistants where required, and participate in the out-of-hours emergency on-call service.

Job description

The post holder will deliver operational electrical maintenance across the Trust, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, installations and emergency works. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with statutory and NHS standards, ensuring safe systems of work, supporting critical patient-facing services, liaising with contractors and stakeholders, interpreting technical information, undertaking inspections and audits, maintaining accurate records, supporting apprentices and assistants, and acting as a Competent Person where authorised. The role requires independent judgement, effective prioritisation of workload and participation in the Trusts emergency and on-call arrangements.
