Job summary

This post is fixed term/secondment for 7 months until 31 March 2027 due to funding.

The post holder will support the HCSW Education and Development Manager and team in delivering and co-ordinating training for the Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) Framework.

They will use their clinical experience and knowledge to facilitate learning, assess competence, and maintain training records.

  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 with additional clinical knowledge equivalent to Diploma level.
  • Background in one of the following: Healthcare Support Worker Nursing Assistant Therapy Assistant
  • Support the HCSW Education and Development Manager and team.
  • Plan and coordinate training programmes for the HCSW Framework.
  • Deliver training and clinical instruction independently.
  • Facilitate the Framework Induction Programme.
  • Assess learner competence and training outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date learning and development records.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and standards

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating education programmes associated with the Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) Framework, ensuring training is delivered effectively and meets organisational and workforce requirements. This will include organising training schedules, managing learner attendance, booking venues and resources, liaising with internal and external educators, and developing lesson plans and learning materials that reflect best practice and support learner development.

A key aspect of the role is the autonomous delivery of clinical and non-clinical training within the HCSW Framework and Induction Programme. The post holder will utilise a range of teaching methods to deliver engaging, inclusive and effective education sessions, adapting their approach to meet the needs of learners with varying levels of experience and understanding, including those who may have no previous healthcare background.

The post holder will support the delivery of practical skills training, including manual handling and the safe use of clinical equipment. They will supervise and assess learners in both classroom and clinical environments, evaluating competency against agreed learning outcomes and providing constructive feedback to support development. Where learners require additional support, the post holder will work closely with the HCSW Education and Development Manager to identify and implement appropriate learning and development plans.
