Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner (GP) to join our GP practice and provide high-quality, patient-centred medical care. The successful candidate will assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions, while supporting patients with preventative healthcare and ongoing wellbeing.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the GP will contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the practice and work collaboratively with clinical and administrative colleagues to ensure patients receive safe, effective and accessible care.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct face-to-face and remote consultations, assessing patients and developing appropriate management plans.
  • Diagnose and treat a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Provide ongoing management and monitoring of patients with long-term conditions.
  • Prescribe medications safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidance.
  • Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and other healthcare professionals where required.
  • Provide preventative healthcare, including health promotion, screening and lifestyle advice.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential patient records.
  • Respond appropriately to urgent and complex clinical presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, administrative staff and other members of the wider healthcare team.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, significant event reviews, audits and practice development activities.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and skills through continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Follow practice policies, clinical guidelines, safeguarding requirements and relevant NHS standards.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and the ongoing development of services within the practice.

Job description

The General Practitioner will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care to patients registered with the practice. The role will involve assessing, diagnosing and treating a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, providing preventative healthcare, prescribing appropriately and making referrals where required.

The GP will work collaboratively with the wider practice team to ensure safe, effective and compassionate care, while maintaining accurate clinical records and complying with relevant NHS, GMC and practice standards.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent clinical judgement, communication skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality care and supporting the ongoing development of the practice.
