Job summary

New to Care

Band 2 throughout training, and Band 3 upon successful completion of apprenticeship.

No direct experience is necessary, as full training will be provided, however, knowledge of working in a healthcare setting would be an advantage. You will need to have a willingness to learn with excellent communication skills. Basic IT skills will be advantageous.

This is a full-time apprenticeship role (37.5 hours per week). In line with apprenticeship funding rules, working hours must not fall below 30 hours per week; however, the expectation is that apprentices will work full-time hours for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for assisting the qualified nursing team with setting up of the clinical area
  • Looking after patients pre and post procedure and reporting any concerns to the nursing team
  • Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team to maintain high levels of patient care and dignity
  • Contribute to clerical duties when required
  • Contribute to cleaning and housekeeping within the department
  • Ensure stock is available as required

Essential Requirements

  • To work a minimum of 30 hours per week
  • Willingness to undertake and complete the apprenticeship course within 15-18 months
  • Presents self as courteous, respectful and helpful

Job description

You will need to be able to meet all the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the apprenticeship funding rules to undertake the role.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over (due to the nature of the shifts and role)
  • Have the right to work and remain in the UK.
  • Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
  • Must not be self-employed.
  • Provide original evidence of required English and Maths qualifications at interview.

Further information:

  • You will not be considered if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the same or a very similar subject.
  • You must not be engaged in any other training or education programme.
  • We cannot accept applications from student visa applicants.
  • We cannot sponsor applicants during or on successful completion of the apprenticeship so please ensure you meet visa status eligibility.

If selected for interview you must provide evidence of your Maths and English qualification certificates. Failure to do so will withdraw you from the process.

Please be advised if you are a Non-UK National applicant you must meet the full eligibility criteria and fulfil the settlement requirements of the apprenticeship course funding. Your settlement status will need to be verified as eligible for funding, by the relevant apprenticeship provider, for you to formally enrol on the course.
