About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive GP practice.
You will work as part of our multidisciplinary primary care team, providing a high standard of nursing care to our registered patient population. We are looking for someone who is committed to delivering excellent patient-centred care and who enjoys working collaboratively within a busy general practice environment.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and contribute to the ongoing delivery and improvement of our practice nursing services
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities
- Deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients across the practice.
- Undertake routine and complex wound care and dressings.
- Carry out health assessments and chronic disease reviews.
- Support the management of conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and cardiovascular disease.
- Undertake immunisations and vaccinations in line with national guidance.
- Perform cervical screening.
- Carry out blood pressure checks, ECGs, blood tests and other clinical procedures within your scope of practice.
- Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice.
- Support the practice in meeting clinical targets and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to patients whose health may be deteriorating.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, community teams and other members of the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical audits, infection prevention and control, safeguarding and practice improvement activities.

About you
We are looking for a registered nurse who is:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Experienced in, or keen to develop a career within, general practice/primary care.
- Confident in assessing patients and managing a varied clinical workload.
- Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
- Committed to providing safe, effective and compassionate patient care.
- Organised, reliable and able to prioritise competing demands.
- A clear and effective communicator with patients and colleagues.
- Committed to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
Experience in areas such as chronic disease management, immunisations, cervical screening, wound care and health promotion would be advantageous, although applications from nurses who are keen to develop
their primary care skills will be considered.
