- Role Summary
The Salaried GP will provide high-quality, safe and effective medical care to the practice population, working as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team.
The role involves assessing, diagnosing and managing patients presenting with a wide range of acute, chronic and complex health conditions, while ensuring appropriate onward referral and continuity of care.
- The postholder will work collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, pharmacists, reception/administrative staff and other members of the wider healthcare team.
- Objective
The overall objective of the role is to provide safe, effective, evidence-based and patient-centred medical care, while contributing positively to the wider functioning, clinical governance and ongoing development of the practice.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions.
Conduct face-to-face, telephone and appropriate remote consultations. Manage patients with long-term conditions and contribute to chronic disease management
Identify and appropriately manage patients requiring urgent or emergency treatment.
Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and other relevant services
Act upon investigation results in a timely manner.
Prescribe safely and appropriately.
Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records.
Provide appropriate clinical advice, education and health promotion to patients.
Participate in clinical meetings, significant event reviews, audits and quality improvement activities.
Contribute to the development and delivery of practice policies. Maintain awareness of current guidance, recommendations and guidance.
Clinical Governance and Professional Responsibilities
Maintain registration with the General Medical Council and comply with GMC professional standards.Maintain appropriate indemnity arrangements.

The postholder is expected to work positively and collaboratively with all members of the practice team. They will contribute to a culture of mutual respect, effective communication and openness.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services.
The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines
Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care
Effective management of long-term conditions
To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care
Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways
Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans
Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
Be aware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children
Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice
Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement
To be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team
There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels
About us
The Practice currently cares for just under 9000 patients with a team of 3 Partners, 2 salaried GPs, an ANP, 2 Practice Nurses, a Practice Pharmacist, HCAs and a mix of 10 reception/admin staff.
We are part of East Elmbridge PCN, along with 6 neighbouring practices.
We are a training practice and delight in welcoming new students. We also hold monthly staff meetings, open to all staff, where we share information, ideas and news. We also provide the lunch!
Located in East Molesey, Surrey, with parking provided.
Situated near to Hampton Court Palace and the river Thames, with a wealth of cultural and social venues.
