In this rewarding position, you'll work closely with the department's medical secretary to deliver a high-quality administrative and secretarial service, supporting clinical staff in providing excellent care. You'll manage and maintain patient records with accuracy and confidentiality, handling sensitive information such as clinical correspondence and test results with professionalism.

You'll also have the opportunity to step up and take the lead when needed, providing essential cover in the absence of the medical secretary and ensuring the service continues to run smoothly.

Main duties of the job

Working 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will be required to support the delivery of a comprehensive and quality secretarial service to the Consultants and their teams and support the Medical Secretaries.

You will undertake a wide-range of duties including receipt and distribution of mail, audio transcription, and the typing of highly sensitive letters and reports, maintaining confidentiality at all times, in addition to operation of the Health Board's patient database system. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisation skills and be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work. You must be able to work on your initiative, use tact and diplomacy where appropriate and possess excellent communication skills.

Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and E-Mail, coupled with proven secretarial skills (including audio typing skills) and previous experience of medical terminology is essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
