Job summary
To support the Head of Medical Education and Medical Education Improvement Lead in ensuring the provision ofa high-quality learning environment for all learners attending clinical placements at LTHTR.Be responsible for supporting Resident doctors, Medical Students Year 3 and 5, Physician Associates, and otherlearners, Ward Managers/Team Leads, Learning Environment Managers, Practice Assessors, PracticeSupervisors and Clinical Educators in allocated placement areas.
Main duties of the job
Participate in supervision of learners as well as teaching and assessment. This will include Aseptic Non-Touch Technique, Cannulation, Venepuncture, Adult Basic Life Support and Paediatric Basic Life Support as part of clinical skills simulated assessments.
This will include assessment of learners on physical examinations, historytaking, undergraduate practice skills assessments and proficiencies in clinical practice.
Deliver student inductions (including Blood glucose training, Moving and Handling), physical examination and history taking revision sessions for medical students and some interprofessional learning sessions.
Work in partnership with Clinical Placement Supervisors (i.e. consultants at LTHTR) to plan, implement, evaluate, support and develop work-based teaching and assessment programmes defined by external partners.
Collaboratively assess the quality of clinical practice environments and placements, identifying areas of best practice, as well as areas that might require assistance to meet the standard and report findings directly to the Educational Governance lead.
