Job summary

The post holder is a senior member of the Pharmacy Cancer Leadership Team, providing strategic pharmacy leadership alongside advanced clinical expertise to support the safe, effective and evidence based use of cancer medicines across Cambridge University Hospitals and the wider health system.

Main duties of the job

• Provide operational management and leadership for the Cancer Pharmacy team, including workforce planning, professional development, performance management and succession planning.
• Lead on education, training and competency development within the cancer pharmacy workforce, supporting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
• Provide expert clinical leadership in oncology medicines, supporting safe prescribing, administration, monitoring and optimisation of systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) and related treatments.
• Lead the development, implementation and review of oncology medicines policies, protocols, treatment guidelines and shared care arrangements, aligned to national guidance and Trust priorities through Trust forums such as Oncology Systemic Therapy Standards (OSTS) Committee
• Act as the nominated pharmacy lead for the implementation of oncology NICE Technology Appraisals and be accountable for completion of the pharmacy elements within agreed timeframes.
• Drive quality improvement, medicines optimisation and pathway redesign across oncology services, identifying opportunities to improve outcomes, safety and efficiency.
