Job summary

We are currently looking to appoint a Clinical Administration Officer (CAO) to work in the Surgical Division working 30 hours per week covering maternity leave. Due to ensuring the service is covered the hours will be 0830 - 1700 (with 1 hour lunch as the department closes during this time) and the 4 days will be agreed.

The successful candidate must be customer focused, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure are essential requirements together with great attention to detail for ensuring data is recorded accurately.

To be successful in this role you will possess English and Maths GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent), excellent IT skills and relevant office/secretarial experience.

Knowledge of medical terminology, customer care and previous NHS experience are also desirable.

Main duties of the job

The main emphasis of this role is to provide a range of administrative support to Consultants, medical staff and/or other senior members of the Divisional teams. This is achieved by operating relevant IT applications as required, ensuring targets are met and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Duties will include audio typing, receiving patient queries and actioning appropriately, booking relevant appointments, and actioning complex instructions from clinical staff and/or other designated senior staff as appropriate.
