St Joseph's Hospice has a brilliant vacancy for a Specialist Palliative Care Physician at either Consultant or Lead Consultant level, dependent on experience.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant difference to the palliative and end of life care experiences of our wonderfully diverse and extensive local communities. The post holder will influence the shape of palliative medicine and hospice care in one of the oldest and largest hospices in England.
Main duties of the job
You will need:
- Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice and entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Palliative Medicine, or eligibility for entry within six months of interview.
- Significant experience as a Consultant in Palliative Medicine.
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent Royal College qualification.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Job description
The Lead Medical Consultant and Head of Palliative Medicine is the senior professional leader of the hospice medical workforce and principal medical adviser to the Executive Team.
The postholder will provide expert clinical leadership, strategic direction, professional oversight and assurance regarding the quality, safety and effectiveness of medical services across the hospice. They will lead the delivery and development of specialist palliative and end of life care across inpatient, outpatient, community and virtual settings, ensuring services remain person-centred, evidence-based and responsive to local population needs.
Working closely with the Chief Executive, Director of Care, senior clinical colleagues and external partners, the postholder will contribute to organisational strategy, service transformation and system-wide development of palliative and end of life care.
