At St Leonard's Hospice, we are looking for skilled communicator to join as Communications Lead Clinical & Corporate to amplify the charity's message, supporting colleagues across clinical and corporate teams to:
- Educate professionals about the services the Hospice offers, the range of conditions with which we support people and when/how to make referrals for the patients greatest benefit
- Making sure patients, families and carers know what help the Hospice offers and how they can access our support
- Campaigning for changes in public policy and awareness of palliative and end-of-life issues.
This is a full-time role, working37.5 hours per week, usually Mon-Fri though occasional evening and weekend work will be required. This role supports working from home, though a regular presence on site at the Hospice is essential. The salary band for this role is£28,555 to £31,337per annum.
Main duties of the job
This post is intended to work collaboratively across the Hospice to create and share insight-based, audience-focused communications to engage our key audiences.
The role will involve creating compelling content for use across channels, showcasing the value of the Hospices work and the difference it makes for patients, families and carers.
To fulfil the Communications Lead Clinical & Corporate role, you will need:
- Experience in a similar role
- The ability to create compelling written and visual outputs, online and in print
- Track record of evaluating campaigns to support continuous improvement

Job description
Lead on the delivery of communications activity that supports the St Leonard's Hospices (SLH) clinical and corporate objectives, specifically in the areas of:
- Educating professionals about the services SLH offers, the range of conditions with which we support people and when/how to make referrals for the patients greatest benefit
- Making sure patients, families and carers know what help SLH offers and how they can access our support
- Campaigning for changes in public policy and awareness of palliative and end-of-life issues
Main duties and responsibilities
Professional
1. Support the Communications Manager to create, review and continuously improve communications plans for clinical and corporate activity at the Hospice.
2. Lead on the delivery of communications activity, collaborating with clinical and corporate colleagues to achieve SLH's organisational objectives.
3. Contribute to the development and monitoring of performance indicators that demonstrate progress towards SLH's organisational objectives, as well as the contribution of the Communications function to this success.
4. Create compelling content for use across channels, showing the value of SLH's work and the difference it makes for patients, families and carers. This will include liaising with external media contacts.
5. Proactively identify stories that capture SLH's impact.
6. Engage with SLH beneficiaries to capture their feedback and stories, remaining at all times sensitive to and respectful of their lived experience.
7. Create and collate content for newsletters, email and bulk communications.
8. Update and refresh clinical and corporate area of the SLH website.
9. Work with the Internal Communications Lead to ensure consistency in tone of voice and message in both internal and external messaging.
Additional duties
1. Proofread/ quality check communications and marketing materials.
2. Contribute to the development and implementation of SLH brand guidelines.
3. Monitor social media, email and website performance and provide analytics.
4. Respond to email, social media and website enquiries.
5. Undertake departmental administrative tasks as required.
