Job summary

Would you like the opportunity to join an innovative, developing Occupational Therapy Service? If so, we are looking to recruit an Occupational Therapy Technician to work within the Learning Disabilities Service, supporting the specialist work of the Occupational Therapists (OT's).

This is a countywide, community based team and you will be assisting the OT's by helping to complete assessments and provide intervention for adults who have a learning disability. You will be responsible for providing specialist Occupational Therapy intervention under the guidance of the OT team, as well as working independently on a day to day basis in a variety of settings.

This is a 12-month fixed-term development opportunity designed to provide relevant experience and skill development within the team. The successful candidate will be supported to develop the knowledge, skills and experience required for future career progression, including the opportunity to apply for occupational therapy apprenticeship opportunities should they become available. Any future apprenticeship appointment would be subject to the organisation's recruitment process and the candidate meeting the relevant eligibility and selection criteria both within ELFT and the University of Northampton's Health and Social Care Faculty.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will join a well-established, supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary community team. You will work closely and collaboratively with occupational therapists, service users and their carers to contribute to assessment, develop and deliver person-centred, goal-focused intervention plans across a range of community settings.

The role will focus on supporting individuals to identify and work towards meaningful goals, maximising their independence and enhancing functional abilities in everyday activities, including self-care, vocational tasks, domestic responsibilities and leisure pursuits. You will play a key role in promoting recovery, independence and participation, using a strengths-based approach in line with occupational therapy principles.
