Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a passionate Band 6 Clinician / Care Coordinator to join the Dartford Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) service, covering the Medway and Swale area.

In our service, caseload sizes are managed carefully to allow for innovative, focused interventions in partnership with service users, families, and support networks. Adopting a strengths-based, recovery-focused approach, we aim to maximize hope, self-determination, and empowerment in line with NICE guidelines. Meeting Access and Waiting Time standards, we ensure individuals receive early, high-quality care through individual work, family interventions, group activities, and community collaboration.

As part of a robust multidisciplinary team--working alongside STR workers, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Pharmacists, Medics, Psychologists, and Individual Placement Support (IPS) specialists--you will play a vital role in delivering safe, effective, and client-centred mental health care.

The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Working Schedule: Work Fridays as a core part of your scheduled working week.

Main duties of the job

  • Caseload Management: Manage a dedicated caseload of service users experiencing a first episode of psychosis using evidence-based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate recovery plans.
  • Collaborative Care Planning: Work closely with service users, their families, and support networks to identify goals and deliver interventions that maximize engagement, promote choice and independence, and balance risk effectively.
  • Duty Function & Assessments: Actively participate in the North & West Kent EIP-wide duty function based out of the Gillingham base, facilitating clinical assessments across the Medway and Swale area.
  • Clinical & Medication Management: Maintain strong knowledge of psychotropic medication, safely administer depot medication as required, and manage Community Treatment Orders (CTOs) effectively.
  • Statutory & Formal Processes: Attend and actively participate in Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews and Mental Health Act tribunals.
  • MDT & Integrated Working: Contribute a high standard of professional expertise to the multidisciplinary team, meeting current policies, standards, and practice guidelines while linking service users to wider community support networks.

We are Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust. We care for the mental health and wellbeing of people across Kent and Medway and are rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
