Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant post in our NuclearMedicine department. This is a 12 month fixed term post, for 40 hours per week,and will require on-site presence. You will be a qualified Nuclear Medicine Physicianor Radionuclide Radiologist, with experience in reporting a range of NuclearMedicine procedures.

This is a consultant post to support and develop radionuclide and PET imagingand capacity.

We are one of the biggest Nuclear Medicine departments in UK and Europe,

providing a range of specialist procedures in PET, radionuclide therapy and generalnuclear medicine. Our service is rapidly expanding and we are looking for amotivated individual who can work flexibly and provide leadership and specialistexpertise to drive quality improvements, sustainability and innovation.

Main duties of the job

oTo work closely with the senior professional workforce, radiographerand technologist colleagues, medical, physicist and nursing staff toensure provision of an efficient and responsive Nuclear Medicineservice including providing consultant supervision for diagnosticradionuclide imaging in all service areas.

oReport general nuclear medicine, bone densitometry and PET/CT,PET/MRI studies

oAttend multidisciplinary oncological and non-oncologicalmultidisciplinary meetings

o Contribute to the audit and quality improvement projects in thedepartment

It functions both as an academic institute within the Faculty of Medicine of University College London where it has a strong commitment to research and teaching, and as the provider of a comprehensive clinical Nuclear Medicine service to the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where it offers a full range of diagnostic, laboratory and therapeutic procedures to patients referred from within the Trust and from many other hospitals throughout the UK .

The Institute of Nuclear Medicine has an established chair in Nuclear Medicine at the University College London. It has, therefore, a major responsibility in promoting Nuclear Medicine via research and teaching. The Institute of Nuclear Medicine is also a major referral centre for radionuclide therapies, including 177Lu-PSMA, 177Lu-DOTATATE, 131I-MIBG, 223Radium, 131I radioiodine, 89Strontium, 223Rhenium skin cancer therapy. We recently became a national training centre for 177Lu-PSMA therapy in prostate cancer patients.
