Job summary

The post holder will be expected to provide ST1- ST3a grade cover on a rotational shift basis within our Acute Paediatrics and Neonatal services and participate in the on-call FY2 - ST3a rota. Resident Doctor staffing will also be required to work in our Paediatric Emergency Department to support patient experience and flow. They are expected to supervise the FY1s in service delivery and inpatients.

Hours of working

We currently have a cohort of 9x HET Speciality Trainees, 9x HET GPVTS Trainees, and 4x Junior Clinical Fellows - BCYP, who cover our acute roster to include the following areas:

  • T2 Rainbow Ward
  • Paediatric Assessment Unit with support to the Paediatric ED
  • Ocean Day Unit Doctors List Clinic
  • Sunrise Neonatal Unit

All staff, with effect from 1st April 2025, are employed onto the 2016 terms and conditions for junior doctors in training (England) . Rota enhancements are provided in line with the contract for all weekend working, out of hours working, and additional rostered hours over and above the 40-hour basic contract.

We aim to provide a high standard of care, facilitated by the use of protocols and guidelines, which are continuously reviewed in clinical and audit meetings.

We aim for a situation where all members of staff are being trained, or are involved in training others, or both.

We aim for a climate of constant innovation underpinned by research and audit.
