Job summary

We are looking for an organised and technically confident IT Project and Technical Support Officer to join our Technical Services team. The role will support the delivery, deployment and ongoing use of IT systems, devices and digital services across the Trust. You will help coordinate small IT projects, resolve technical issues, support staff with technology, and maintain accurate asset records, including device audits, reporting and decommissioning. Working with clinical and corporate teams, suppliers and service providers, you will help ensure staff have reliable access to the technology they need. The role requires strong communication and organisational skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and flexibility to travel to Trust sites across Derbyshire when required. "It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract. "

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide technical and project support across the Trust, helping to plan, coordinate and deliver small IT projects and service improvements. They will support the deployment, implementation and ongoing use of approved technology, systems, devices and equipment, ensuring staff receive practical guidance and timely technical support. Working as part of the Technical Services team, the role will help maintain effective IT services for clinical and corporate teams, resolving day-to-day technical issues where appropriate and escalating more complex matters when needed. The post holder will liaise with internal teams, external suppliers and service providers to support the delivery and maintenance of Trust systems and projects. The role will also support asset management activities, including device deployment, audits, usage reporting, investigations and decommissioning in line with Trust policies. This includes supporting telecommunications, mobile devices and user-reported issues, using service data to improve device usage and service delivery. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly, including travelling to Trust sites across Derbyshire to provide user support, undertake audits and assist with local deployment activity.

The IT Project and Technical Support Officer will provide technical and project support across the Trust, helping to deliver, deploy and maintain approved IT systems, devices, telecommunications and digital services. The post holder will support the planning, coordination and delivery of small IT projects and service improvement activities, ensuring that clinical and corporate teams receive the technical guidance, resources and support needed to use technology effectively. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the deployment, implementation and ongoing use of IT systems, devices, mobile technology and associated equipment across the Trust.
  • Providing practical technical support to staff, resolving day-to-day and non-routine issues where appropriate, and escalating more complex matters when required.
  • Assisting with the planning, coordination and monitoring of small IT projects, service improvements and local deployment activity.
  • Working with internal teams, external suppliers and service providers to support system maintenance, project delivery and service continuity.
  • Supporting asset management processes, including device allocation, deployment, audits, usage reporting, investigations and decommissioning in line with Trust policies.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work undertaken, including service desk updates, asset records, deployment activity and project documentation.
  • Providing support and guidance to staff on the effective use of approved technology, systems and devices, including simple demonstrations or user guidance where required.
  • Analysing service information, user requirements and reporting data to identify actions, support improvements and improve device usage and management.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of IT procedures, guidance documents and local working practices.
  • Supporting telecommunications, mobile devices and user-reported issues to help ensure staff have reliable access to the tools they need.
  • Working flexibly across Trust sites in Derbyshire to provide user support, undertake audits and assist with deployment activity.
  • Following Trust policies and procedures relating to information governance, cyber security, confidentiality, asset management and service management.

The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of the wider Technical Services team.
