Job summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Lung Cancer Screening Programme.

This role is central to delivering a high-quality screening service, helping to identify lung cancer and other respiratory diseases at an early stage to improve patient outcomes and save lives.

This is a mobile role covering North East London, including Barking & Dagenham, City of London, Hackney, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. Candidates should be able to travel comfortably throughout North East London and surrounding areas, with flexibility to support service delivery across parts of Essex, Hertfordshire and Greater London where required. A full UK driving licence and access to reliable transport are essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver face-to-face and virtual nurse-led clinics, assessing patients against established risk criteria.
  • Conduct respiratory assessments, provide smoking cessation advice and promote healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Refer eligible patients for Low-Dose CT scans and support them throughout the screening process.
  • Identify and appropriately escalate safeguarding concerns, red flags and potential medical emergencies.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider screening team while maintaining accurate clinical records and supporting administrative processes.

About You

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years' Band 5 respiratory nursing experience.
  • Strong communication, assessment and patient engagement skills.
  • Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate clinical documentation.
  • Full UK driving licence with the flexibility to work across a mobile screening service.
