At Gwrych Medical Centre and Cae Glas Surgery we value patient satisfaction and strive to give everybody the upmost care. A vacancy has become available to become a part-time Dispenser/Care Navigator at our branch surgery (Cae Glas Surgery). This role is vital within our practice. It involves dispensing of medication, admin duties and being able to communicate with our practice population and multi-disciplinary teams. Previous experience would be desirable but full training will be given.
Main duties of the job
GENERAL: The role of Dispensary Assistant requires a methodical approach whilst embracing a professional and patient focused attitude. Duties include:
1. To dispense medication to patients. Accepting, reading/checking, generating and dispensing prescriptions.
2. Stock management re-order and control stock in order to maintain adequate stock supplies at all times. Check invoices and statements against stock. Check expiry date on drugs and dispose of any that are out of date in accordance with the protocol.
3. To supply drugs in a monitored dose system when required.
4. Prescription management work as a Team in filing prescriptions by the doctors and Nurse Practitioner.
5. To be aware of and adhere to organisational policies, SOPS and procedures.
6. To maintain strict confidentiality of information relating to patients, their relatives/carers and other members of staff.
7. To undertake housekeeping tasks within the dispensary.
8. In conjunction with the Dispensary Manager develop and maintain good communication skills.
9. To be willing to undertake necessary training as a requirement for the post.
10. Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post.
11. Answering telephone calls.
12. Reception duties
13. Making appointments for the various clinical team.
14. Care Navigation-signposting the patients to the relevant services.

Gwrych Medical Centre in Abergele is the main surgery and Cae Glas Surgery in Llanfairhalhaiarn is our branch surgery. We are a forward thinking practice with an excellent team of 10 partners, 5 salaried GPs and we are also a training practice with currently 5 trainees. We are supported by an excellent admin team.
