We are seeking an exceptional both clinical and operational Team Leader to join our Children and Young People's autism service as we embark on the next stages of our ambitious transformation and service development.

As Team Leader you will provide clinical and operational leadership to a skilled and dedicated multidisciplinary team. You will support staff to deliver high-quality autism assessments and intervention, champion continuous improvement and work collaboratively with families, education, health and social partners to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

Main duties of the job

The post holder carries day to day responsibility for the operational management and delivery of a CYP Autism Service across South Staffordshire.

The post holder will ensure that a high-quality service is delivered within this specialist area and that all National and Trust targets and standards are adhered to including the recording of information within the IT systems.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of staff within the team, leadership, the delivery and delegation of management supervision and ensuring appropriate clinical / professional supervision takes place as per Trust Policy.

The post holder will also carry out clinical work to maintain clinical competencies and team performance. In conjunction with the service leads and multi professional partners they will develop the provision and quality of services for patients. This will demonstrably reflect the principles of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, cost effectiveness as well as Trust and National Policy.

Job description

This vacancy is only open at this stage to internal employees of the following organisations within the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System:

  • Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.
  • North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust.
  • University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, inclusive of Black Country Procurement Group and North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service.
  • Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board.

Responsible for providing operational and clinical leadership and delivery of services to the multi-disciplinary teams within CYP Autism Service.

To be responsible for the deployment, day-to-day management, supervision and co-ordination of designated staff. To be responsible for monitoring sickness, annual leave, flexitime arrangements, appraisal, personal development planning and informal disciplinary matters.

The post holder will have responsibility for ensuring performance within designated trust standards including clinical, key performance indicators and financial management targets and with the support of the Service Manager, will hold responsibility for the management of the service budget.

Maintaining own clinical competencies to support clinical leadership and team performance by working clinically as and when appropriate.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with service users and their families to ensure a high standard of care is delivered. They will also liaise closely with a variety of external service providers in Local Authority Childrens Services, Education, other Health services as well as charitable and voluntary sector organisations.
