Job summary

We are delighted to be recruiting Senior Clinical Psychologists (Band 8a) to join the Urgent Care Pathway within Children and Family Health Devon. We have roles based in North Devon and Torbay and South Devon.

These are 0.8WTE roles and can be offered as Developmental Roles at Band 7, working with support, to progress to Band 8a (subject to meeting criteria within 2 years).

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality psychological care for children and young people in Devon.

Our Urgent Care Pathway is a community pathway for children and young people who require responsive and/or intensive support with risk and mental health presentations. The Pathway has strong links with other CFHD pathways of care as well as the regular interface with acute care systems.

The Pathway is guided by Adaptive Mentalisation Based Integrative Therapy (AMBIT), a model that emphasises the importance of the well-connected team supporting practitioners working with higher risk needs. There are opportunities to pursue training in AMBIT, DBT skills, EMDR and other psychological therapies and interventions depending on your clinical interests and service needs.

We offer:

  • A senior clinical role in a well-established multi-disciplinary team.
  • CPD opportunities, including potential training in AMBIT, DBT, EMDR.
  • Regular clinical supervision, a dedicated job plan, and a strong psychology network within CFHD.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions for children, young people, and their families.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary team working, sharing psychological thinking through consultation and joint work.
  • Offer clinical supervision and support to colleagues within the Urgent Care pathway.
  • Participate in service development, evaluation and quality improvement, aligned with the THRIVE framework.
  • Support trauma-informed, developmentally sensitive practice across the pathway.
  • Engage in CPD and training, with access to additional training opportunities depending on interest.
  • Collaborate with young people, families, and professionals across systems to ensure joined-up care.

This is an ideal opportunity for Clinical Psychologists looking to take on senior roles with a mix of clinical leadership, therapeutic work, and service development in beautiful Devon.
