Job summary

We are excited to offer a part-time (0.45WTE) 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist part-time role to provide leadership into the Leicestershire Paediatric Neuropsychology service.

The service provided highly specialist paediatric neuropsychological assessment and intervention to children under the age of 16 with complex neurological conditions such as epilepsy, brain tumours, acquired brain injury and metabolic conditions.

This is a new role to provide leadership for neuropsychology onto the paediatric neuropsychology pathways across children's services. The post sits within the Leicester Neuropsychology department which includes neuropsychologists and clinical psychologists working within various specialties including inpatients, outpatients and community. There is close working across the lifespan and opportunities to develop ongoing structures and support for young people transitioning between paediatric and adult services.

Successful applicants join a supportive department with regular supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development. Research and evaluation activity is actively promoted within the service and there will be opportunities to develop these areas in line with the applicants special interests and service objectives.

Main duties of the job

The role will require detailed and specialist neuropsychological assessment, formulation and rehabilitation for patients with highly complex cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties in the context of a neurological condition.

There will be opportunity to undertake individual, family as well as the opportunity to develop group work for young people with neurological conditions. The successful applicant will work closely with the medical, nursing and therapy colleagues providing joint working, consultation and training as well as developing pathways across and within services. It is expected that the post holder will have a trainee clinical psychologist on placement and will provide supervision to the trainee as well as other colleagues across acute and community organisations.

The postholder will also be expected to provide line management as required. It is anticipated that applicants will have completed the knowledge component of the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology. Ongoing supervision and support will given for applicants wanting to achieve the practice component of the QiCN and entry onto the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychology (if this has not already been completed). Supervision will be provided by a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist.
