Job summary

This is a Consultant Haematologist post within the Department of Clinical Haematology atManchester Royal Infirmary, joining a well-established and cohesive team withinManchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be a key member of theMyeloma and Stem Cell Transplantation service, providing specialist care for patients with myeloma, amyloidosis and other plasma cell disorders. The successful candidate will also participate in the Haemato-Oncology Consultant on-call rota.This is an 8 PA post.

Any Consultant who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post. If appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on an individual basis with the Trust.

Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration - MFT cannot support GMC

Main duties of the job

Key Duties and Responsibilities.? The appointee will work within the Myeloma and Plasma Cell Disorders Service, including themanagement of patients with myeloma, amyloidosis and related disorders. They will alsoparticipate in clinical research and clinical trials within this area.? The appointee will participate in the stem cell transplantation programme alongsideConsultant colleagues and contribute to the ongoing development of transplant services.? The appointee will participate in the ward attending rota with Consultant Haemato-Oncologycolleagues.? The appointee will undertake laboratory duties in line with their clinical interests and service requirements. ? The appointee will be expected to undertake both undergraduate and postgraduate teachingwithin and outside the Trust.? The appointee will participate in the administrative, governance and management activities ofthe department alongside Consultant colleagues.? The Consultant will contribute to cross-cover arrangements for annual leave, study leave andshort-term sickness absence on a rotational basis
