Modern Matron
Ludgate Wardis the Trust's new 10-bed male acute admission ward, scheduled to open in October 2026within our Medium Secure Services. We are excited to be recruiting a Mordern Matron to join in establishing and developing this new service from its inception. In addition we have two other Matron positions to cover across Forensic Service in the low secure and medium secure.
We are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and innovative individual to take up the post of Modern Matron AfC Band 8a within the forensic directorate. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead on continuous development and improvement of nursing in providing high quality care to patients. It also calls for visible and inclusive leadership as part of a multi-disciplinary team and other teams across the service.
In this role you will be required to support the ongoing relational security, trauma informed care and reducing restrictive practices initiatives in the service.

Main duties of the job
To develop and provide leadership for a brand new ward
To ensure there are effective systems that supports the provision of high quality care and treatment to an identified group of patients.
Foster a learning care environment that teaches, develops, and supports staff to fulfill their role requirements.
To manage and organise work as required.
Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence based practice for service users with complex needs, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs, Trust objectives and professional guidance.
Lead on creating an environment that promotes critical reflection to improve care outcomes utilising evidence based practice and embedding QI.
Develop ways in which to receive service user and partner feedback and adapt service provision accordingly.
Ensure that high quality care provision with highly complex service users and groups is provided.
Ensure that the ward functions as an integral part of the Directorate's services.
Effective communication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to the Trust.
To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.
To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.
Maintain quality care provision within the service budget including rota management
