Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

The Therapy team at MKUH is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Children's Physiotherapy Team. Although the preference is to appoint at Band 6, we will also consider candidates for a development role, supporting progression from Band 5 to Band 6 through an intensive period of structured development, supervision and support. For the development role, candidates should have completed some post-registration clinical practice and gained core experiential learning in some or all of the following areas:

Respiratory Medicine, Critical Care or Respiratory On-Call Working

Acute Medicine or Older People's Medicine

Musculoskeletal Outpatients or Trauma and Orthopaedics

We recognise that candidates may not have completed all of these clinical domains. Applicants who can demonstrate a high level of critical thinking, self-awareness, leadership capability and commitment to self-directed learning will also be considered. Previous experience in paediatrics is not essential, although it would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

Clinicians appointed to the development role will work within a vacant Band 6 position while initially remaining at Band 5. They will undertake a structured development programme, with clear competencies and objectives supported by experienced clinicians. Progression to Band 6 will take place at the earliest opportunity once the required competencies have been achieved and the clinician is able to practise safely and confidently at Band 6 level.We anticipate that successful candidates will progress to a Band 6 pay point within approximately 4-8 months, depending on previous experience, individual development needs and available learning opportunities.The Children's Physiotherapy Team delivers physiotherapy services to children and young people aged 0-19 years across both acute and community settings. There will be opportunities to work within Children's Outpatients, primarily managing a musculoskeletal caseload. The role will also include physiotherapy in-reach to the children's inpatient ward, as well as opportunities to undertake blocks of treatment for children and young people with neurodisability.The post will involve working across the Children's Physiotherapy Department at Stony Stratford Health Centre, Milton Keynes University Hospital and Redway School. The ability to drive between these sites is essential.
