Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine (ST3 equivalent)NHS
Job summary
Applications are invited for ST3-level posts on a dedicated CT3 rota in the Emergency Department at Airedale Hospital. This post will increase our ED staffing levels, improve patient care, and also provide an ideal opportunity for doctors experienced in emergency medicine to gain ST3-level experience as a perfect stepping stone to a full middle grade (ST4+) post.
These posts would be ideally suited to a candidate who has completed Acute Care Common Stem training or has equivalent experience and competence and wishes to gain further experience before becoming an ST4+ level middle grade doctor. After working for a year as an ST3-level doctor in the ED at Airedale, we envisage post holders then stepping up onto our ST4+ level middle grade tier and will be happy to help you work towards CESR. Our department prides itself on being friendly and supportive and has an excellent reputation amongst trainees.
Main duties of the job
This post is ideally suited to candidates at the level of ST3 equivalent who are looking to expand their experience and develop their clinical skills prior to taking up a Higher Specialist Training post or a Specialty Doctor post (ST4+ level) in Emergency Medicine. Post holders will work alongside consultants and middle grade doctors to provide high quality emergency care. Consultants are on-duty from 0800-0000 and there is always at least one ST4+ level middle grade on duty. The rota will incorporate 6 ST3-level doctors working a combination of day and night shifts with some evening shifts also. The jobs will also include non-clinical time that the post holder can use to gain experience in areas such as teaching, quality improvement and pursue any special interests.
Our expectations of you would be that you will:
- Have already completed at least 4 years postgraduate experience equivalent to Foundation Training and ACCS training. Previous NHS experience would be a definite advantage.
- Be able to act at ST3 level and provide support to junior colleagues
- Have full GMC registration and a licence to practice; please do not apply unless you have FULL GMC registration
- Have ideally successfully completed MRCEM and are working towards FRCEM or at least planning to.
- Have a PLAB certificate if required
- Have evidence of right to work in the UK if applicable
- Participate in the ST3 rota including nights and weekends
