Job summary

An exciting fixed term opportunity has arisen within the York and Selby Adult Community Learning Disability team for a competent, confident and enthusiastic Clinical Specialist Nurse to cover a 12 month period of maternity leave.

The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously in a fast paced environment and provide clinical leadership within the team working alongside the Team Manager utilising skills to support team members, the role also maintains the offer of nursing assessment and intervention within a defined caseload.

The post holder will be part of a resilient and professional team working collaboratively with internal and external partners to support the needs of individuals with a diagnosed learning disability and their family /carer needs. The team are friendly, professional, and innovative. They have a common interest in living the trust values, to support adults with learning disabilities to enhance their quality of life and emotional wellbeing. Coproduction and collaboration are key drivers of the team's work ethic.

Strong team working is essential, requiring networking with a variety of people, alongside working in partnership with a range of different agencies both internal and external to the team.

Main duties of the job

The successful postholder will lead on professional development and ensuring the delivery of robust evidence based practice and comprehensive risk assessment.

You willensure high professional standards of nursing practice in accordance with the NMC code of Conduct.

You willprovide nurse led diagnosis and treatment planning.

You will undertake ongoing audit of care and service delivery, underpinned by research and evidence-based practice.

In addition to this, the postholder will support the team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework.

You will participate in clinical/professional and management supervision, contribute to multi-disciplinary team working, utilise electronic patient record system accurately and timely, abide by all Trust policies, procedures andbe able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.
