Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new service transforming how care is delivered across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight?
We are recruiting enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our newly established Community Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) and IV Service, delivered in partnership between Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. This innovative service will enable patients requiring intravenous antimicrobial therapy to receive treatment safely in their own homes and community settings, reducing hospital stays and improving patient experience.
As a Community OPAT and IV Nurse, you will work closely with specialist OPAT and Community response teams, consultants, pharmacists, microbiologists, and community healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. You will have the opportunity to develop specialist skills in intravenous therapy, vascular access management, antimicrobial stewardship, and community-based care.
Main duties of the job
What you'll do
- Deliver safe and effective OPAT and IV treatment in community settings
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
- Administer intravenous antimicrobial therapy and IV therapy
- Monitor patient progress and respond to clinical concerns
- Support patients and carers to manage treatment safely at home
- Work collaboratively with hospital and community multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives
Role Requirements
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
- At least 1 year post registration experience with preferably IV skills and competencies
- Excellent communication and clinical assessment skills
- Passion for delivering outstanding patient-centred care
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to learning and developing specialist OPAT and IV skills
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
