Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of our in-house Endoscope Reprocessing Unit (ERU) team, as a Decontamination Technician.
Main duties will include to work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management System.
You will be required to undertake work across all sites (St Mary's Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital), Monday to Friday, with shift patterns between 08:00-20:00. Opportunities to work weekends as bank shifts are regularly available.
Main duties of the job
- To work in accordance with Departmental Policy, Standard Operating Procedures & Quality Management System.
- To reprocess reusable flexible endoscopes, collect, receipt, disassemble, clean, disinfect, check, reassemble, pack, despatch, deliver & track in a controlled environment.
- To provide advice & training to junior staff & visitors effectively.
- To provide a collection & delivery service to the Decontamination Department's customers.
- To inform the Decontamination Supervisors of any raw material shortages in a timely manner, check delivery notes against goods delivered & to ensure that stock is put away neatly, rotated, restocked, recorded & used in date order.
- Under limited supervision meet the demands of the Department's workload whilst consistently achieving high quality standards, which will be measured by in-process checks & feedback (including non-conformance reports).
- To undertake initial investigation into non-conformances reports as instructed.
- To use manual dexterity & concentration for the disassembly, cleaning & reassembly of the reusable medical devices in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
- To operate decontamination equipment & carry out routine tests in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules, Departmental Standard Operating Procedures, Quality Standards & Guidance.
