Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a receptionist at a GP practice covering sessions for scheduled holidays, sickness and other adhoc requests.
The purpose of the role is to:
- Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate appointments, service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
- Offer general assistance to the Practice and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic receptionist to join our established and hard working team. The role requires someone who is diligent, friendly and capable, someone who is self motivated, a good communicator and always striving for the best for the patients.
Ideally the candidate will have experience of working in a reception environment within a healthcare setting but this is not essential as on-the-job training will be provided. Exceptional candidates without healthcare experience but with a strong and relevant background will also be considered.

REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
HOURS: Morning sessions run from 07:45am until 12:45pm and afternoon sessions run from 13:45pm until 18:45pm.
Job Summary:
The purpose of the role is to:
- Offer general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
- Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate appointments, service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the Practice reception team are defined in the job description and may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Practice Manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.

We have a team of 9 part-time receptionists plus additional bank staff supporting a team of 6 doctors, 4 nurses/assistants and 2 phlebotomists. We are always striving to deliver the best possible health services for our patients.
Our site at Warmdene Surgery is situated just two minutes off the main A27, offering bright and modern facilities with free parking and good public transport options. We use the EMIS web clinical system.
