We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the healthcare team at HMP Isle of Wight based just outside Newport.
HMP Isle of Wight is a category B high security male prison set across 2 sites Albany and Pankhurst. We offer a challenging, yet rewarding to learn and grow your career in healthcare, where you will be fully supported, and no two days are ever the same! Hours
This position is full time.
Healthcare operates 24/7 so will need to be flexible as shifts will be on a rota basis covering days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Likely to be working two weekends per month 11.5 hours 0730 - 2000 or 1930 - 0800 9.5 hours - 0730 - 1730 Weekends - 0800 - 1730 Salary Up to £31,789 per annum

Main duties of the job
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
- Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
- Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
- Support the nursing team with all aspects of care
- Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
- Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients
- You will primarily be working within the primary care.

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
- Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
- Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
- Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
- Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
- Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
