Join Our Friendly and Forward-Thinking Practice Nurse TeamJacksdale Medical Centre is looking for an experienced and highly competent Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team for 2125 hours per week, working every Monday, Thursday and Friday.
We are a welcoming GP practice committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care to our local community. We are looking for a confident and proactive clinician with strong primary care experience who can work independently while also being a valued member of our multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take an active role in a varied range of clinical responsibilities, including chronic disease management, vaccinations and immunisations, cervical screening, health checks and other essential areas of primary care, alongside contributing to practice governance and quality improvement.

Main duties of the job
Clinical duties will include:
- Wound care and dressing changes
- Routine and travel vaccinations
- Long Term Condition (LTC) reviews (e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension)
- Infection control audits and action planning
- Patient Group Directions (PGDs) compliance and use
- Vaccine stock management and cold chain maintenance
- Travel vaccination forms processing and stock control
- Data logger monitoring
- HBPM (home blood pressure monitoring) review, scanning, and follow-up actions
- Vaccine fridge temperature checks and escalation
- Legionella checks
- Clinical room stock management and replenishment
- Receipt, organisation, and storage of deliveries
- Filing and processing of pathology results
- Sample handling and processing
- Emergency drugs and equipment checks
- General practice nursing tasks as required
Essential requirements:
- Registered Nurse (NMC registered)
- Significant experience in general practice/primary care nursing
- Competence in cervical screening (smears)
- Experience in vaccination programmes and cold chain management
- Ability to manage LTC reviews independently
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and practice governance
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team

The successful candidate will provide a range of general practice nursing services, support our vaccination programmes and contribute to essential clinical governance and practice management activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical responsibilities will include:
- Wound care and dressing changes
- Routine and travel vaccinations
- Long-Term Condition (LTC) reviews, including asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension
- Cervical screening
- HBPM (home blood pressure monitoring) review, scanning and appropriate follow-up
- Processing and handling clinical samples
- Filing and processing pathology results
- General practice nursing duties as required

- Supporting the practice with quality improvement and governance activities
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- Significant experience working within general practice/primary care
- Competence in cervical screening
- Experience with vaccination programmes and cold-chain management
- Ability to independently undertake and manage Long-Term Condition reviews
- Good understanding of infection prevention and control and clinical governance
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously while working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable Skills
- Cervical screening
- Spirometry
- FeNO testing
Working Pattern2125 hours per week across Monday, Thursday and Friday.
- Monday: 3:00pm8:00pm
- Thursday and Friday: Hours between 8:00am and 6:30pm, to be agreed
A regular weekly commitment across these three days is required, with exact hours discussed and agreed at interview.
