Programme Officer Physical Activity and Healthy Weight

Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent Would you like to play a key role in supporting our communities with their local health needs? Join us as a Programme Officer and you’ll work closely with the Public Health team to support the implementation of public health programmes which aim to improve the health of our local population. You will be working on: the Physical Activity programme which supports variety of physical activity-based interventions and partnership working across Leicester and the Whole System Approach to Healthy Weight. The team are usually based at City Hall; but you’ll have the flexibility to work from home. This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. On occasion you may be required to work evenings and weekends. What you’ll be doing: You’ll be responsible for supporting, planning and monitoring the day-to-day delivery of health improvement programmes by ensuring the programmes are high quality, in line with national and local policies, and are delivered on time, and to budget. You’ll liaise with a range of internal and externals stakeholders to develop and maintain positive relationships. You’ll prepare reports, briefings and presentations that will update on programme delivery and progress. You will develop and deliver training sessions to a range of stakeholders. With guidance from the programme leads, you’ll support procurement exercises and manage contracts for public health services, while evaluating and reviewing performance. What you’ll need: With excellent communication skills, you’ll be able to work effectively as part of a team, work in partnership, develop networks and negotiate with decision makers. You’ll be able to identify common priorities and work alongside other organisations for the same goal. You’ll have experience and knowledge of project management and good practice to deliver programmes to a high standard. You’ll have a good understanding of the wider determinants of health and the role local government and other agencies play in the health and wellbeing agenda. Using strong analytical skills, you’ll be able to effectively analyse issues and implement effective, creative, and innovative solutions, while identifying and managing risks. With your excellent IT skills, you’ll be able to maintain and develop spreadsheets, prepare engaging presentations for a variety of audiences, and utilise project management and communication tools. You’ll be able to develop and deliver high quality and engaging training to a range of clients.
