Lead and innovative programme and help transform lives across Local London

Are you an inspiring leader who is passionate about helping people overcome barriers and fulfil their potential?

Local London has secured funding from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver an innovative new Peer Mentoring Programme across our sub-region. We're looking for two Team Leaders to help shape and deliver this exciting programme, supporting residents experiencing drug and/or alcohol dependency to build confidence, achieve stability and progress towards employment.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a service that sits at the intersection of recovery, health and employment support, helping people who are often furthest from the labour market take positive steps towards a brighter future.

About the Role

As a Team Leader, you will lead and support a team of Peer Mentors with lived experience of recovery from drug and/or alcohol dependency.

You'll create a supportive, reflective and inclusive environment where Peer Mentors can use their lived experience safely and effectively to support residents on their own recovery and employment journeys.

Alongside leading and developing your team, you'll drive programme performance, build strong local partnerships, oversee reporting and assurance requirements, and support the ongoing evaluation and development of the programme.

The Peer Mentoring Programme aligns closely with Local London's wider employment and skills offer, including Connect to Work, Employment Trailblazers and our broader portfolio of employment support programmes. This means you'll play a key role in creating joined-up pathways that help residents progress from recovery and stabilisation towards sustainable employment and independence.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be:

Leading and inspiring a team of Peer Mentors with lived experience.

Creating a positive, supportive and psychologically informed team culture.

Building strong relationships with Jobcentre Plus, treatment providers, local authorities, health services and community organisations.

Driving programme performance and ensuring residents receive high-quality support.

Overseeing programme reporting, grant claims and evaluation activity.

Supporting continuous improvement and helping shape the future development of the programme.

Ensuring high standards of safeguarding, governance and compliance.

Making a meaningful difference to the lives of residents facing some of the most complex barriers to employment.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong leadership skills with a genuine commitment to improving people's lives.

You may come from an employment support, health, recovery, substance misuse, social inclusion or related background, but most importantly you'll have experience leading people, building partnerships and delivering high-quality services.

You'll understand the importance of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches and be passionate about supporting both residents and staff to achieve their potential.

You'll be confident working in a partnership environment, comfortable using performance data to drive improvement, and motivated by the opportunity to build and lead a new service from the ground up.

Why Join Local London?

This is a rare opportunity to help shape an innovative new programme from day one.

You'll lead a lived-experience workforce, supporting Peer Mentors who use their own recovery journeys to inspire and empower others, while helping them build sustainable careers within employment, health and support services.

You'll also be joining an ambitious and collaborative organisation with a strong track record of delivering successful employment and skills programmes across London.

Working alongside nine boroughs, Jobcentre Plus, health partners and voluntary sector organisations, you'll be part of a team committed to reducing inequalities, improving outcomes and creating opportunities for residents and communities.

About Local London

Local London is a sub-regional partnership of nine London boroughs: Barking & Dagenham, Bexley, Bromley, Enfield, Greenwich, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

Redbridge Council serves as the accountable body for Local London, and staff are employed on Redbridge Council terms and conditions.

Ready to make a difference?

If you're looking for an opportunity to lead an innovative programme, develop a lived-experience workforce and help transform lives across Local London, we'd love to hear from you.
