About the role:

Are you an architect who enjoys solving complex enterprise challenges, and would like your work to shape how a world-leading university supports its people and manages its finances?

As Solution Architect for People & Finance, you will lead the architecture of the systems that underpin Imperial’s people, payroll, finance and procurement services, with Oracle Fusion as the core enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform. Working within Architecture & Technology Operations, you will partner with product and platform teams, engineering, and colleagues in People and Finance to design secure, scalable and sustainable solutions aligned to Imperial’s Digital Strategy and enterprise architecture standards.

What you would be doing:

Lead the solution architecture for Oracle Fusion (HCM and ERP/Financials), ensuring configuration, extension and integration decisions follow enterprise architecture principles and Oracle’s recommended practices.

Design how People and Finance data flows between Oracle Fusion and the wider Imperial application landscape, with secure, well-governed integrations that support accurate, timely reporting.

Lead the development of solution architectures across the People & Finance domain, aligned to enterprise standards, product roadmaps and Imperial’s Digital Strategy.

Make effective use of AI and automation, including the AI capabilities within Oracle Fusion, to improve efficiency, insight and user experience, in line with organisational policy.

Contribute to the Technical Design Authority, technology working groups and communities of practice, reviewing and assuring solution designs across the ICT portfolio.

Guide delivery teams to implement approved designs and champion modern engineering practices, including API-first, cloud-native, DevOps and platform-based architecture.

Facilitate architectural decision-making with People, Payroll, Finance and Procurement stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear, outcome-focused solutions.

What we are looking for:

Experience designing complex enterprise solutions within large, diverse or federated organisations

Experience delivering or architecting solutions on Oracle Fusion (HCM and/or ERP/Financials), or a comparable enterprise ERP/HCM SaaS platform, including configuration, extensions and integrations

Knowledge of people, payroll, finance and procurement business processes and how they are supported by an ERP platform

Understanding of Oracle Fusion’s integration, extensibility and reporting capabilities (e.g. Oracle Integration Cloud, REST and SOAP APIs, BI and analytics)

Experience across the full product or platform lifecycle, from discovery and design through to live service and decommissioning

A strong grasp of modern architecture approaches, including cloud, integration platforms, APIs and secure-by-design, with awareness of data protection, financial controls and audit requirements for People and Finance data

The ability to assess and apply AI and data-driven technologies responsibly, weighing value, risk, ethics, security and compliance

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage audiences from senior stakeholders through to technical teams and suppliers

Desirable: TOGAF or Oracle Fusion certification, experience of architecture governance or design assurance, and experience in the Higher Education sector

What we can offer you:

The opportunity to own the architecture of business-critical People and Finance platforms that every member of Imperial relies on

A central role in Architecture & Technology Operations, with influence over enterprise architecture standards and strategic technology decisions

The chance to shape how AI and automation are adopted across Imperial’s enterprise systems

Access to Imperial’s wider staff benefits and development opportunities
