West Berkshire Council is looking for a dedicated and highly organised EHC Co-ordinator to join our SEND Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the support they need through a high-quality, person-centred assessment process.

About the Role

As an EHC Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for managing Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments from referral through to decision-making and plan finalisation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and presenting cases to the SEND EHCNA Panel.
  • Coordinating and reviewing professional advice and evidence required for assessments.
  • Recommending funding levels in line with West Berkshire SEND Banding guidance.
  • Processing panel decisions and supporting the progression of cases.
  • Quality assuring Education, Health and Care Plans.
  • Managing consultations with schools and supporting placement identification.
  • Monitoring progress against statutory deadlines and ensuring compliance wherever possible.

About You

We are looking for a motivated professional who combines SEND expertise with excellent communication and organisational skills.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A collaborative and supportive team player.
  • Calm and resilient when managing competing priorities.
  • Confident in making informed decisions and solving problems.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
  • An excellent communicator who can build positive relationships with families, schools and professional partners.
  • Committed to delivering positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

You will have:

  • Degree-level education or equivalent.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • At least three years' experience working within SEND and disability services in Education, Health or Social Care.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.
  • Extensive experience of multi-agency working.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to produce clear, concise documentation.

Why Join West Berkshire Council?

We offer a supportive and flexible working environment alongside an excellent benefits package, including:

  • Flexible working arrangements where service needs allow.
  • Hybrid working, with approximately 40% office-based working.
  • Extensive training, learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Generous Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Family-friendly policies.
  • Employee wellbeing support, including an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Access to a range of local discounts and employee benefits.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days plus public holidays, rising after five years' service.
