Job summary

Fairlands Medical Centre is seeking a motivated and compassionate Salaried GP for approximately six sessions per week. We would also be pleased to hear from GPs seeking fewer sessions, and job-share applications are welcomed.

We are a thriving three-partner GP training practice serving over 14,000 patients across two modern, purpose-built sites in the semi-rural communities of Fairlands and Normandy, on the outskirts of Guildford

Our practice combines the benefits of a semi-rural location with a diverse patient population, supportive colleagues and well-developed systems that enable GPs to focus on delivering high-quality care.

Why join Fairlands?

We believe that excellent patient care starts with looking after our team and have worked hard to create a practice where clinicians feel supported, valued and able to practise medicine to a high standard. We are proud of our strong team culture, our collaborative approach and the fact that many locums and previous doctors/ trainees choose to return to work with us.

Every day includes our much-loved coffee huddle, providing dedicated time to discuss patients, share ideas, seek advice and support one another. It is a small part of the day that reflects how we work as a practice together.

A strong multi-disciplinary team

You will be supported by an experienced and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team including:

GP Partners and Salaried GPs

Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Clinical Pharmacists

First Contact Physiotherapists

Practice Nurses and HCAs

Experienced Care Navigators and administrative teams

We operate a full clinical triage model, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate clinician first time.

Our duty team is supported by ANPs, Pharmacists and FCPs, helping GPs focus on the patients who most require their expertise.

Additional support includes:

An ANP-led home visiting service

A dedicated referral support team

A workflow optimisation team to streamline clinical correspondence and reduce administrative burden

Well-established systems designed to protect GP time wherever possible

A commitment to education

We are an established and enthusiastic training practice, regularly supporting GP specialty trainees and foundation year two doctors

The role

The successful applicant will undertake a combination of:

Routine GP surgeries

Duty doctor/clinical triage sessions

Clinical administration associated with patient care

Routine surgeries are structured with 25 patient contacts per day, allowing time to deliver safe, thorough and patient-centred care

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a GP who:

Is committed to delivering outstanding patient care

Enjoys working within a supportive multi-disciplinary team

Brings enthusiasm, kindness and professionalism to their work

Is happy to contribute to both routine and duty doctor sessions

Wants to be part of a practice that continually strives to improve

Applicants with additional clinical, educational, leadership or specialist interests are very welcome. Such interests are actively encouraged and supported but are not essential

What we offer

A genuinely supportive and friendly team

Competitive salaried package

Strong multi-disciplinary support

Modern purpose-built premises with ample onsite parking

EMIS Web clinical system

High QOF achievement

Opportunities for teaching and professional development

A practice that values innovation, teamwork and continuity of care

Interested?

Choosing a practice is about much more than sessions and salary. We warmly encourage informal visits and conversations so that you can meet the team and see first-hand what makes Fairlands such an enjoyable and rewarding place to work.
